Earthquake in eastern Afghanistan kills more than 600, injures 1,500

A 6.0 magnitude earthquake centred near the bustling eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad late Sunday caused extensive damage and killed hundreds of people. The Taliban-led interior ministry said in a statement that 622 people had been killed and 1,500 injured.
