Dyke March NYC 2025 in (NSFW) pictures

Thousands took to 5th Ave on Saturday (6/28), walking from Bryant Park to Washington Square Park for the 33rd annual NYC Dyke March. The protest march is staunchly political, with no corporate sponsorship or heavy police presence, and this year’s theme was “Dykes Say No to Fascism!” Here’s a statement from organizers:

As the political climate both within the United States and globally moves further to the right, Dykes of New York City are coming together to say NO to authoritarianism and nationalism. In our ascent to fascism, the state imposes increased restrictions on women, queerness, and BIPOC folx; whether that be the abortion bans, anti-LGBTQ legislation or anti trans laws passed in legislatures nationwide. We also recognize the particularly vulnerable position that many BIPOC and immigrant dykes face in the risk of abduction and deportation by ICE. We owe it to our community to stand defiant in the face of fascism – we protect us.

The NYC Dyke March has always taken place without permits or sponsors as a demonstration of our First Amendment right to protest. We are committed to ensuring that the march is accessible to all Dykes that want to participate. We provide sighted guides, wheelchairs for all or part of the march, ASL interpretation, and assistance in transportation funds for disabled and chronically ill Dykes.

Any person who identifies as a Dyke is welcome to march. We celebrate Dykes of diverse gender expressions and identities, orientations, races, ages, gender, religious identities, abilities, classes, and immigration statuses.

Many carried signs supporting Palestine, transgender rights, and Zohran Mamdani, and against Donald Trump and ICE. The Fogo Azul drumline and Queer Big Apple Corps marching band both kept everyone in earshot dancing (the latter to renditions of songs like Chappell Roan’s “Good Luck, Babe!,” Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive,” and Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls”). It was a sticky, sweaty day, and when the march ended in Washington Square Park, tons of people took a celebratory dip in the fountain, which transformed into a big dance party.
