Glastonbury 2025: Here’s everything The 1975 played at their headlining Pyramid Stage set

The 1975 have performed their first and only gig of the year at Glastonbury 2025 – here’s everything that went down at their headlining slot.

Matty Healy and co. closed out the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm on Friday (June 27) to mark their debut headline set at Glastonbury, with their most recent slot at the festival being in 2016.

Cheers erupted as Healy walked onstage with a pint of Guinness in one hand and a lit cigarette in the other while a backing band member played the trumpet. After kicking things off with ‘Happiness’, Healy greeted the raucous audience with a short introduction before transitioning to ‘If You’re Too Shy’.

While performing ‘She’s American’, The 1975 paid tribute to The Backstreet Boys, interpolating the latter’s ‘I Want It That Way’.

Healy took a moment to joke – though he prefaced that he was being sincere – before launching into ‘Chocolate’: “What this moment is making me realise is that I probably am the best songwriter of my generation – the best, what do we say? A poet. A poet ladies and gentlemen, is what I am.”

While performing the song, joke lyrics mimicking the words sung throughout the song were flashed onstage: “gonaquidi buh ynebahonaquidi”.

“I was only joking about being a poet,” he said after. A couple of songs later, Healy took a seat in the backseat of a car onstage as he sang ‘Somebody Else’. Later on in the set, the band walked off stage for a quick costume change (swapping out their leather jackets for suits and ties), after which Healy urged fans to catch sets from Deftones and his “best friend” Charli XCX on Saturday.

Deep into the set, Healy took to the microphone to share a message with their fans: “Use your platform. The people watching this might have a problem with the lack of politics at this or future shows. We don’t want our legacy to be that of politics, we want it to be that of love and friendship. There are loads of politics everywhere, we need more love and politics.”

Following his declaration of peace and love, Healy and The 1975 performed ‘I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)’ and ‘Love It If We Made It’ before picking up his guitar again for ‘Sex’. The 1975 closed out their Glastonbury 2025 headlining set with ‘Give Yourself A Try’, ‘The Sound’ and ‘About You’ as Healy shed a few tears onstage.

As the band walked off stage, a singular cryptic word flashed in red across the stage: “Dogs”, potentially hinting at the 1975’s upcoming material. Fans are already discussing what “Dogs” could be referring to – see a few reactions below.

The 1975’s Glastonbury 2025 setlist was:

‘Happiness’
‘If You’re Too Shy’
‘Love Me’
‘She’s American’ (with Backstreet Boys’ ‘I Want It That Way’ interpolation)
‘Part of the Band’
‘Chocolate’
‘Paris’
‘Robbers’
‘Somebody Else’
‘fallingforyou’
‘People’
‘Be My Mistake’
‘It’s Not Living (If It’s Not With You)’
‘I Couldn’t Be More In Love’
‘I Always Wanna Die (Sometimes)’
‘Love It If We Made It’
‘Sex’
‘Give Yourself A Try’
‘The Sound’
‘About You’

Earlier this year, it was confirmed by their manager, Jamie Oborne, that their Glastonbury performance will be the only chance to see them live in 2025. “It’s such a big gig, and it’s the only show that we’re playing this year,” he explained. “[Matty Healy] thought doing it in isolation would be a really powerful thing.”

Ahead of their headlining slot, it was reported that the band had “spent four times their actual fee” on production for the show – their set design for Glasto comprised of four LED walls, each brandishing the name of each 1975 member and a treadmill that ran across the stage.

So far, Glastonbury has seen a surprise set from Lorde – who performed her new album ‘Virgin’ in full (and scored a five star review in the process), a spunky set from Wet Leg, Lewis Capaldi’s triumphant return for a secret set at the Pyramid Stage, a surprise appearance by Peter Capaldi at Franz Ferdinand’s set and more.

The weekend continues with Charli XCXDeftonesNeil YoungOlivia RodrigoThe Prodigy, Rod Stewart and many more. Check out the full line-up and schedule here.
