16 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

PROLAPSE – “CHA CHA CHA 2000”

Shouty angular British bands with a fondness for sprechgesang owe a lot of Prolapse who were originally around from 1992 – 2000 but reformed last year and are gearing up to release I Wonder When They’re Going to Destroy Your Face, their first album in more than two decades, on August 29 via Tapete. “Cha Cha Cha 2000” shows they’ve lost none of their bite.

OBERBAUM – “SOLITUDE”

Named for a bridge in Berlin, Oberbaum (Belgian musician Lucie Rezsöhaz) makes piano-forward indie pop and will release new album I Should Be Softer, on September 5. It was produced by Katie Von Schleicher and “Solitude” is its appealing first single.

SYDNEY SPRAGUE – “FLAT CIRCLE”

Sydney Sprague announced a new album, Peak Experience, due September 26, and here’s lead single “Flat Circle.”

SARAH MCLACHLAN – “BETTER BROKEN”

Sarah McLachlan announced Better Broken, her first new album since 2014’s Shine On. It’s due out on September 19 via Concord, and she’s shared the title track.

CRYPT SERMON – “ONLY ASH AND DUST”

ANAMANAGUCHI – “MAGNET”

Chiptune vets Anamanaguchi are going rock on their new album Anyway, and here’s another taste, a Weezer-y song called “Magnet.”

WHY? – “CIRCLES” (MAC MILLER COVER)

VANDOLIERS – “YOU CAN’T PARTY WITH THE LIGHTS ON” (ft. JOSHUA RAY WALKER & TAYLOR HUNNICUTT)

DAFFO – “HABIT”

Daffo announced their first full-length album, Where the Earth Bends, and shared the first single, which you can read more about here.

NO JOY – “BITS”

The second single from No Joy’s upcoming album Bugland has some great Cocteau-esque harmonies and atmosphere amid raging, sludgy guitars.

BLOOD ORANGE – “THE FIELD” FT CAROLINE POLACHEK & THE DURUTTI COLUMN

Somehow Dev Hynes got reclusive musician Vini Reilly of The Durutti Column to play on his new single. It’s gorgeously produced with Reilly’s delicate nylon-string guitar-work, airy harmonies and a skittering beat.
