Serie A return on the cards for explosive €45m United star, Inter lining up bid – report

Inter Milan are lining up a move for Manchester United striker Rasmus Højlund, with the Danish forward identified as the second attacking reinforcement after the imminent signing of Ange-Yoan Bonny.

Negotiations for Bonny are in their final stages, with both clubs broadly in agreement over the €25 million valuation.

The player himself is currently in Ibiza, continuing individual training while awaiting final clearance.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that once that deal is complete, Inter intend to accelerate their pursuit of Højlund, who is open to a return to Serie A and has signalled a willingness to join the Nerazzurri project.

The 22 year old is no longer seen as untouchable at Old Trafford. United have set a €45 million asking price, but Inter hope to negotiate a structured deal, offering a season-long loan with a conditional obligation to buy in 2026.

This would allow Inter to manage their finances more effectively, delaying the major outlay until the player’s value depreciates due to amortisation—a method increasingly used in elite-level recruitment.

Coach Cristian Chivu is eager to enhance his forward line, aiming for four top-tier attacking options to compete across all competitions.

Højlund and Bonny are seen as ideal partners or alternatives to Lautaro Martínez and Marcus Thuram.

We previously reported that Mehdi Taremi’s departure is pivotal to Inter’s pursuit of  Højlund.

The club see the Dane as his direct replacement, with Gazzetta dello Sport now claiming the Iranian is expected to leave.

With financial room being carved out, Inter are preparing for a decisive summer in reshaping their frontline—one aimed at ensuring Martínez and Thuram are no longer carrying the burden alone.
