ERYKAH BADU / THE ALCHEMIST
Having just released a collab single Erykah Badu and The Alchemist have announced North American dates of their Abi & Alan Tour, hitting Seattle, Aspen, Denver, Minneapolis, Toronto, Silver Spring, Miami Beach, Orlando, Charlotte and Austin in August.
JONATHAN RICHMAN
Jonathan Richman and erstwhile drummer Tommy Larkins always seem to be on the road and they’ve got dates through the fall. They’ve also got a new album that features former Modern Lovers keyboardist (and former Talking Head) Jerry Harrison.
HOTLINE TNT
Having just released their new album, Hotline TNT have announced fall tour dates.
WHITE REAPER
White Reaper are back with new album Only Slightly Empty which will be out September 26 via Blue Grape Music. They’ve also go shows coming up this fall in Chicago, NYC (TV Eye on 10/22), and Louisville.
PSYCHEDELIC PORN CRUMPETS
Aussie psych band Psychedelic Porn Crumpets have announced fall tour dates, which is their biggest headline run here yet. They say: “We’ll have a bunch of fresh new tunes ready for the stadiums, an arsenal of wax UFO’s, black T shirts with our band name smeared across them, flashing lights, analogue guitar pedals, amps that go to 1.5 cause if you push them louder than 2 it gets a bit crispy, melted hats and of course, Rodney. We’re going all in on this one.” The tour includes NYC’s Brooklyn Steel on November 22.
LIFEGUARD
Chicago band LIfeguard just released their debut album and start their tour for it this weekend in their hometown.
STREETLIGHT MANIFESTO
NJ ska-punk heroes Streetlight Manifesto are prepping their first album in 12 years and they’ve got live shows coming up as well.
PLANTASIA 2025
The 2025 edition of Chicago’s annual Plantasia festival happens September 14 & 15 at the Garfield Park Observatory. This year’s lineup includes synth legend Suzanne Ciani, plus Arooj Aftab, Tim Hecker, Windy & Carl, John Carroll Kirby, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Voice Actor, Don Slepian, African-American Sound Recordings, Jill Fraser, Nosedrip, Romeo Poirier, Jeff Kolar and Zander Raymond. These performances will take place across the entirety of the conservatory fairgrounds for the first time in the event’s history.
CASE OATS
Case Oats, the Chicago band led by Casey Gomez Walker, will release their debut album Last Missouri Exit on August 22 via Merge, and they’ve got a few tour dates ahead, including a release show at NYC’s Night Club 101 on August 19. They’ll also be opening for Superchunk on West Coast dates in October.
MAC SABBATH
Mac Sabbath, the world’s greatest McDonalds-based Black Sabbath tribute band, are on tour ahead of their appearance at Riot Fest.
