United now actively looking to sell 25 year old title winner, but nobody wants him – report

Manchester United are encountering difficulties in offloading left-back Tyrell Malacia, who returned from a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven following a lengthy injury layoff.

The 25 year old moved to Old Trafford in the summer of 2022 under Erik ten Hag. Brought in for his energy and attacking dynamism, Malacia quickly slotted into the Dutch manager’s setup, making 39 appearances in his debut campaign.

However, his progress stalled after he suffered a serious injury during a game against Fulham.

The setback kept him sidelined for over a year, leading to a prolonged and challenging rehabilitation process.

Malacia worked diligently to recover his fitness and returned to first-team action midway through last season, making eight appearances under new coach Ruben Amorim before joining PSV on loan in January.

His stint in the Netherlands ended on a high note as PSV clinched the league title. But while the achievement added a positive footnote to his campaign, it has not led to tangible interest in a permanent move, according to The Athletic.

United would prefer a sale, but the market has not responded.

The defender’s long-term injury and reduced explosiveness have raised doubts among potential suitors.

Under Amorim, United are expected to reshape their defensive unit with Malacia not expected to be a central part of those plans.

A loan move remains a possibility, as United look to rekindle interest in a player who once showed promise as an aggressive, forward-thinking full-back.

However, with no formal offers on the table and a sale appearing increasingly unlikely, the club may need to adjust expectations for the summer.

Malacia’s future now hangs in the balance, with pre-season looming and squad decisions pending. United face a choice between reintegrating the defender or continuing to search for a temporary move.

If he remains at Old Trafford, he will likely be viewed as a depth option rather than a first-choice starter—a far cry from the explosive talent who arrived three years ago.
