Serie A giants have one clear condition to revive move for United forward Amorim wants out – report

Alejandro Garnacho is expected to leave Manchester United this summer, with both the player and the club open to a parting of ways.

Keen to facilitate his exit, INEOS have reportedly informed suitors that £70 million would secure the winger, who contributed 21 goals and assists last season.

Top European clubs remain interested in the Argentine, but some United fans have been surprised by Napoli’s absence from the race.

Back in April, reports suggested that the now-Italian champions were prepared to pay whatever it took to sign Garnacho.

What has changed?

According to Area Napoli, the Naples-based Serie A side are no longer a front-runner in the race for the number 17.

The publication claims that Garnacho is not already at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium because Napoli considered United’s €60 million-plus (£51 million-plus) asking price last winter too steep.

They reportedly believe the 20-year-old’s value has dropped further, given he has only managed three goals and five assists since January. Antonio Conte’s side have now turned their attention to alternative targets.

While this may not be the update INEOS were hoping for, it could be a tactical move by Napoli to pressure United into lowering their valuation.

Unfortunately for INEOS, given that it is clear they want Garnacho out and, considering his ongoing questionable behaviour on social media may concern potential buyers, they could struggle to command a premium fee.

Is Garnacho still worth his £51 million-plus price tag?

That said, United may still hold firm in their valuation. Given the young forward’s experience, respectable numbers last season, and raw talent, there’s a case to be made.

Polarising as he may be, Garnacho could prove a wise investment for many clubs.

Napoli may be attempting to strong-arm United into a discount, but even if they succeeded, they were never likely to win this race. Reports suggest Garnacho is keen to remain in the Premier League.

Interestingly, the Italian side are also said to admire Jadon Sancho, perhaps as a more affordable alternative to Garnacho.
