Watch Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong angrily tell off fan for repeatedly hitting him with squirt gun

Green Day perform in 2025

Billie Joe Armstrong was seen telling off a fan who repeatedly hit him with a squirt gun during a Green Day live show. Find footage of the moment below.

Footage of the moment was shared by fans on Monday (June 23), following the punk trio’s slot at the Hurricane Festival in Germany.

The moment took place during a rendition of ‘Jesus Of Suburbia’, and saw Armstrong repeatedly hit in the face with water from someone holding a squirt gun in the crowd. He was seen getting visibly more frustrated during the set, before eventually taking off his guitar and having a word with the fan.

Although it is not clear exactly what he was saying to the person in the audience, he pointed at the fan angrily and appeared to say “Do you understand me?” at the end.

He then walked back over to the microphone, put his guitar strap back over his shoulder and continued the performance by encouraging the fans to put their “hands up” and clap along.

Neither the band members nor their representatives have yet to comment on the incident following the set at Hurricane Festival.

The show came following a headline slot at Download 2025, and the band are set to continue their tour in Europe with further shows planned for Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Luxembourg.

Later next month, they will head back over the pond for a number of US shows, before playing a South American run of shows in the autumn. Visit here for remaining tickets.

Poor concert etiquette from fans has seemingly been on the rise in recent years, with numerous live gigs having to be paused due to unacceptable behaviour. One of the more drastic instances was at a Bebe Rexha show in 2023, which was brought to a halt after she was struck in the face by a mobile phone.

She later revealed her injuries on social media, which left her with a black eye and stitches. A 27-year-old man was arrested by New York City police, and their preliminary investigation determined that the cell phone was thrown “intentionally” because it would be “funny”.

Other names to have had their shows affected by fans include Harry Styles, Lil Nas X, Drake, Cardi B and Pink. Last year, SZA also hit out at fans during a live show in Australia after some crowd members allegedly threw items at her. She threatened to cancel the remainder of the set if the behaviour continued.

Billie Eilish, Adele, Corey Taylor and Taylor Swift have urged fans to stop participating in the trend of disrupting live shows. The latter singer said there should be “gentle, healthy boundaries” between the artist and their audiences.
