Watch The Jesus Lizard’s David Yow in ‘The Toxic Avenger’ reboot trailer ft Peter Dinklage, Kevin Bacon & more

Troma’s classic ’80s schlock horror comedy series The Toxic Avenger is getting a reboot, with Peter Dinklage taking over the titular role of a janitor who gets transformed into a loveable if grotesque hero after he falls into some toxic waste. The reboot was written and directed by Macon Blair, who also acts in the film alongside Kevin Bacon, Elijah Wood, and Jacob Tremblay. Also among the cast: Jesus Lizard wildman David Yow, who you see a bit of in the trailer that was just released. Watch that below.

Here’s the synopsis: “When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze, is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he’s transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger. Now, Toxie must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community. In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive.”

The Toxic Avenger will be in theaters on August 29.

The Jesus Lizard released the terrific Rack, their first album in 26 years last year, and just wrapped up their spring tour at Primavera Sound.
