The heatwave hits France, 16 departments on alert

France is entering one of its earliest heatwaves, with temperatures set to peak around 38 °C in the south and reach 34–37 °C in many regions by the weekend. Sixteen départements have been placed on orange vigilance for high temperatures, prompting authorities to issue warnings regarding health risks and potential impacts on nuclear power stations cooled by the Rhône.
