Kristen Stewart and Steven Yeun explore love at the end of the world in Love Me, one of the most original —and charming — movies you’ll see this year. Part live-action, part animation, and part chaotic blend of YouTube clips and the best and worst of the internet, the Sundance stunner can best be categorized as a post-apocalyptic will-they-won’t-they romance. It explores AI, our relationship with social media, and the endless journey of self-love.
Whether you skipped the theater or want to watch it again, Love Me officially started streaming on June 16. Here’s everything you need to know.
What is Love Me about?
Written and directed by Sam Zuchero and Andy Zuchero, Love Me is a sci-fi drama about love, consciousness, and identity. It follows a buoy (Kristen Stewart), frozen in the ocean and programmed to learn from its surroundings, and a satellite (Steven Yeun), a time capsule of the planet’s past, long after humanity’s extinction. The buoy is entranced by the satellite and looks to understand love through cached videos of influencers on the internet. The machines begin to mimic mankind, but can they find a love of their own and learn who they are beyond the internet personas?
“An oddly hopeful movie set in a dead Earth, Love Me is about how even a robot might wade through the mess of societal expectations, internet white noise, and chronic self-doubt, and be able to achieve the truly radical — self-acceptance,” Mashable Film Editor Kristy Puchko writes.

Is Love Me worth watching?
Love Me has some truly mixed reviews. Mashable’s own reviewer raved about it, calling it a “bittersweet but beautiful film that is resoundingly humane.” It even made our list of the best movies of 2025 (so far).
Meanwhile, the film has only a 46 percent critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with the overall consensus that “its admirable narrative reach exceeds its grasp.” Audiences so far are leaning toward the positive end of the spectrum; it’s currently holding a 62 percent audience rating.
The good news is art is subjective, so while some critics may turn their nose up, it may be your favorite film of the year. There’s only one way to find out.

How to watch Love Me at home

Love Me world premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival before launching in U.S. theaters on Jan. 31, 2025. It’s now officially available on digital platforms for rent or purchase, as well as streaming.

Love Me made its at-home debut on video-on-demand sites like Prime Video and Apple TV shortly after its theatrical release. You can purchase the film for your own digital library or rent it for 30 days. With rentals, you’ll have 30 days to begin watching and just 48 hours to finish once you start.

Stream it on Paramount+
While Love Me‘s first stop in the home entertainment market was digital on demand, it’s now officially available to stream since June 16. You’ll not only need a Paramount+ subscription to stream the film, but a Paramount+ with Showtime subscription, which starts at $12.99 per month.
