E. Lockhart’s best-selling novel We Were Liars has received a TV adaptation.

Developed by Julie Plec and Carina Adly Mackenzie, the psychological thriller follows Cadence Sinclair Eastman (Emily Alyn Lind), a member of the wealthy Sinclair family, as she spends her summer on a private island with her inner circle, nicknamed the Liars.

A synopsis reads: “The Sinclairs are American royalty — known for their good looks, old money, and enviable bond — but after a mysterious accident changes Cadence’s life forever, everyone, including her beloved Liars, seems to have something to hide.”

Other cast members include Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, David Morse and Wendy Crewson.

All eight episodes of the show premiered on Amazon on June 18, 2025.
