25 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

BAR ITALIA – “OMNI SHAMBLES”

bar italia’s new album Some Like It Hot is out on Friday (spoiler alert: it’s great) and the band have just shared one last preview before you can dig into the whole thing.

RUNO PLUM – “POND”

runo plum has shared another single off her debut LP for Winspear, patching. About “Pond,” she says, “This song came from feeling really stuck in a slump, feeling the height of the absence, the pain, and the loneliness. Wondering how there will ever be a time where it didn’t feel like this, and fighting with the internal voice that was telling me my best option was to not be on earth. Sonically this song is pretty mellow, but the fuzz guitar that comes in at the instrumental is a great representation of the internal horror that was happening inside of me.”

KNEECAP – “SAYŌNARA” (SHERELLE & WALLACE REMIXES)

Kneecap have offered two very different remixes to their awesome new single “Sayōnara“: Wallace takes it into house territory while SHERELLE’s “More Blacks, More Dogs” mix doubles down on the original’s techno energy.

HALEY HEYNDERICKX & MAX GARCÍA CONOVER – “FLUORESCENT LIGHT” & “BOARS”

Haley Heynderickx and Max García Conover have announced a new collaborative album (that follows their 2018 collaborative EP Among Horses III), What Of Our Nature, due out November 21 via Fat Possum. It’s inspired by Woody Guthrie, and they’ve shared the first two singles, “Fluorescent Lights” and “Boars.”

KISHI BASHI – “COMIN’ TO YOU”

Kishi Bashi will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his 2016 album Sonderlust on tour next year, and he’s shared a previously unreleased b-side from that album, “Comin’ To You.”

DISGUSTING SISTERS – “TGIF” (HOT CHIP REMIX)

Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor and Joe Goddard have remixed “TGIF” by rising UK duo Disgusting Sisters. “The original song – our second single – dropped on September 10. When Hot Chip agreed to do a remix, we honestly couldn’t believe it,” the duo say. “We’ve always looked up to them: they’re masters of emotional, off-kilter dance music that hits hard but never loses its soul. Their remix takes ‘TGIF’ somewhere darker and more hypnotic – stretching it out, warping the edges, and pulling you into its late-night spiral.”

PORTUGAL. THE MAN – “ANGOON”

Portugal. The Man’s new album SHISH arrives next month, and they’ve given us a final preview with “Angoon.”

SHARP PINS – “QUEEN OF GLOBES AND MIRRORS”

When Kai Slater isn’t making angular noise with Lifeguard, he’s writing ultracatchy guitar pop as Sharp Pins. His second album of the year, Balloon Balloon Balloon, is out in November and here’s an early taste.

EZRA FURMAN – “ONE HAND FREE”

Ahead of her North American tour, Ezra Furman has shared “One Hand Free.” “This is a jaunty back-porch breakup/depression song about feeling so bad you’re not sure what species you even belong to anymore,” she says. “We left it off Goodbye Small Head because it was too good. It’s better than Jason Aldean. Better than the Barbie movie. Better than Bob Dylan. Better than Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Cue the sound of one hand clapping, a Zen round of applause.”

LONE – “ASCENSION.PNG”

“I had this dream about a year ago where I was floating on a small raft in the ocean, floating away from a tiny desert island,” says electronic producer Lone of his banging new single. “The whole dream was just me on this raft watching the island get smaller and smaller as I floated further away from it. It felt like my subconscious was trying to tell me something about the nature of time. The colours I see in my head when I hear this track are more or less exactly like the ones in that dream. The track has loads of amens in it as well.” By amens he means amen breaks, as this track goes deep into the jungle.

OLIVER SIM – “TELEPHONE GAMES”

Oliver Sim of The xx shared his first new music since 2022, “Obsession,” in August, and he’s followed that with “Telephone Games,” which was produced by Bullion.

156/SILENCE – “OUR PARTING WAYS”

Pittsburgh metalcore band 156/Silence have signed to Pure Noise, and their first single for the label is “Our Parting Ways,” which finds them seesawing between an atmospheric/melodic rock side and bone-crushing metalcore.

THE RURAL ALBERTA ADVANTAGE – “FALLING APART”

The Rural Alberta Advantage say their new single “Falling Apart” was “Inspired by Nils’ first guitar purchase in a decade, an old Martin acoustic that’s nearly 100 years old but felt like it was still packed full of songs the moment he picked it up. And shaped by the feedback we got from you while trying out the song live over the past months.”

THE AVETT BROTHERS & MIKE PATTON – “HEAVEN’S BREATH”

The unlikely pairing of Mike Patton and The Avett Brothers have shared another taste from their upcoming collaborative album as AVTT/PTTN. After sharing the folky “Eternal Love,” they go in a heavier, riffier direction on “Heaven’s Breath.”

HEART TO GOLD – “DOUBLE VISION”

Ahead of a tour with Harrison Gordon and Aren’t We Amphibians, Heart To Gold have shared a new single, “Double Vision.” If you miss ’90s pop punk, you should check this out.

ORCHID MANTIS – “STRANGE HEAVEN”

Atlanta dreampop band will release their new album In Airports on November 7 and fans of ’90s shoegaze and slowcore should check out “Strange Heaven.”

SUGAR – “HOUSE OF DEAD MEMORIES”

First it was teased, and now it’s official: Bob Mould‘s ’90s band Sugar are back not only with shows but a new song.

JENNY ON HOLIDAY – “DOLPHINS”

Jenny Hollingsworth of Let’s Eat Grandma announced her debut solo album as Jenny on Holiday and gave us a preview with “Dolphins,” which you can read more about here.

JIM JARMUSCH & ANIKA – “JETLAG”

Jim Jarmusch collaborated on the score of his new film Father Mother Sister Brother with Anika, and this is the first track released from it. The film also stars Tom Waits.

THIS IS LORELEI – “NAME THE BAND”

This is Lorelei re-recorded 10 songs from years of self-released material for his new album Holo Boy, and the first single is “Name the Band,” which you can read more about here.

LALA LALA – “DOES THIS GO FASTER?”

Lala Lala, aka singer-songwriter Lillie West, has signed to Sub Pop and released her first song for the label. “Does This Go Faster?” was co-produced by Jay Som and is a nice slice of breathy pop, full of swirling synths distorted drums.

COURTNEY BARNETT – “STAY IN YOUR LANE”

Courtney Barnett is back with her first new music since her 2023 instrumental album, the new single “Stay In Your Lane.”

LANGKAMER – “CROWS”

It’s the first single from the Bristol, UK band’s upcoming fourth album.
