So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.
MARK STEWART (THE POP GROUP) – “EVERYBODY’S GOT TO LEARN SOMETIME” (THE KORGIS COVER)
The late Pop Group frontman Mark Stewart’s final solo album The Fateful Symmetry is out July 11 and here’s another track from it, a cover of The Korgis’ early-’80s hit “Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometimes” which you may know from Beck’s version on the Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind soundtrack.

ELIZA MCLAMB – “QUITTING”
Eliza McLamb has shared her first new music of 2025, “Quitting,” which was produced by Sarah Tudzin (illuminati hotties). “‘Quitting’ is about doing bad things that are good for you,” McLamb says. “Or good things that are bad for you. Or getting confused about what’s good and what’s bad and just doing what you want.”

AUTOMATIC – “IS IT NOW?”
LA synthpop trio Automatic have shared this very catchy new single which is also the title track to their next album (details TBA).

STEVE GUNN – “SLOW SINGERS ON THE HILL”
Steve Gunn has announced new instrumental album, Music for Writers, which will be out August 15 via Three Lobed Recording. Get a taste via the lovely “Slow Singers On The Hill.”

DEB NEVER – “BLUE”
Deb Never co-produced her new single “Blue” with regular collaborator Romil Hemnani. It follows a few other singles she’s released this year, including “Know Me Better” and “This Alive.”

KOKOROKO – “JUST CAN’T WAIT”
London collective Kokoroko have shared a new single from their upcoming album Tuff Times Never Last. “Just Can’t Wait” is warm and bright and reflects our feelings on the album which is out July 11. “It’s a song with a congregational feeling for the steppers,” says bandleader Sheila Maurice-Grey. “One that people can listen to on a Saturday or Sunday morning and feel uplifted. A big reference for the track were the horn melodies from Tom Browne’s ‘Funkin’ for Jamaica (N.Y.)’”.

GORDI – “GD (GODDAMN)”
About “GD (Goddamn),” the latest single from her new album Like Plasticine, Gordi says, “I wrote it as a poem sitting at a kitchen table in Brooklyn. A few days later at my friend’s place in LA, I recorded the whole thing on my iPhone. I thought it was just a rough demo but it captured the feeling of the song so perfectly. Like it was a memory I was trying to recall but the fragments kept slipping through my fingers. It’s about stopping time.”

JEANINES – “COAXED A STORM”

Madi Diaz’s new single is from the soundtrack to the second season of AppleTV+ series The Buccaneers.

Like Jeanines, NJ’s Lightheaded release their new album on June 27 via Slumberland and here’s one last preview.

BLUSH – “X MY HEART”
Singaporean dreampop band Blush will release new album Beauty Fades, Pain Lasts Forever on August 1 via Kanine. Here’s the first single.

CASTRATOR – “COVENANT OF DECEIT”
Feminist death metal band Castrator have announced their sophomore album, Coronations of the Grotesque, due August 15 via Dark Descent. Here’s new single “Covenant of Deceit.”

THE ARMED – “KINGBREAKER” (ft. PUNCH/SUPER UNISON’S MEGHAN O’NEIL)
The Armed’s upcoming album The Future Is Here and Everything Needs to Be Destroyed is shaping up to be a heavy one, and this new single with Punch/Super Unison vocalist Meghan O’Neil is no exception.

Lucero’s Ben Nichols has shared a folky, melancholic song called “The Darkness Sings” off his upcoming solo album In the Heart of the Mountain.

NJ indie band Forth Wanderers have shared another appealing song off their first album in 7 years.

Baltimore hardcore band End It have announced their debut album, Wrong Side Of Heaven, along with new single “Pale Horse.”

WEDNESDAY – “WOUND UP HERE (BY HOLDIN ON)”

“It’s pretty different from anything you’ve ever heard from me,” Eric D Johnson says of his new Fruit Bats album. “I wrote and recorded it pretty much all in one week’s time and it’s mostly just my voice and some minimal accompaniment.”

SYDNEY MINSKY SARGEANT (WORKING MEN’S CLUB) – “I DON’T WANNA”
“I’m trying to wear my heart-on-my-sleeve a bit more, these songs come from a search for meaning and understanding,” Working Men’s Club founder Sydney Minsky Sargeant says of his debut solo album. “I’m always trying to unpick myself and those around me, the ones I love and loved the most. There were thoughts and feelings that these songs helped me express, address and make sense of.”

Icelandic band múm have announced History of Silence, their first album in 12 years. You don’t need to wait any longer to hear a track from it.

BILLIE MARTEN – “CLOVER”
“Clover” is a pretty, tranquil song that Billie Marten says is “about feeling small but needing to appear big.” she adds, “It’s a note on power and inequality.” New album Dog Eared is out July 11.
