22 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

JOHN ANDREWS & THE YAWNS – “GOODBYE DIRTY SNOW”

As NYC residents who are still navigating grey piles of ice and asphalt from a winter storm a month ago, we appreciate this new John Andrews & The Yawns song a lot. It’s off their upcoming album Streetsweeper.

GENESIS OWUSU – “STAMPEDE”

Genesis Owusu has shared his first new music of 2026, “Stampede.” “Left side to the right side, front side to the back,” he says, “we’re all in this together. And there’s a real problem. There are people who have expansive amounts of money, who are intentionally acting to separate us so they can keep getting richer at the expense of general human wellbeing. We’re all under that same thumb and we need to realise that.”

JOE PERNICE FT AIMEE MANN – “DEEP INTO THE DAWN”

Of all of the recordings I have ever made, this is my favorite,” Joe Pernice says. “The musicians played beautifully and what can I say about Aimee Mann’s singing? As I was writing the song I had her voice in mind. I’ve said a lot already about her greatness as a songwriter, musician and performer. She’s a legit hero of mine. Obviously, I was pretty stoked when she agreed to sing with me. And she sang perfectly. I’m so pleased with how the song turned out. I’m almost able to listen to it as if it were not mine. Almost.” Joe’s new album The Black and the Blue is out April 3.

HOT MULLIGAN – “I DON’T THINK IT’S THE RIGHT TIME FOR EMOJIS”

About Hot Mulligan’s new b-side single, vocalist Tades Sanville says, “Zealotry is probably going to kill us all. Which is fine, guess. It’s no better or worse than any other kind of annihilation. There’s some people of faith who seem to understand not everyone has to care what their book says, and that deserves thanks. But judging by how many people are showing up for the mega-church Sunday spectacular, complete with pyro and wirework, the meek are not likely to inherit the earth. Joel Osteen locked people outside during Hurricane Harvey. Kenneth Copeland uses his church to buy planes, fancy cars, and houses. The camel can apparently very easily fit through the eye of the needle. David Easterwood is a pastor who runs an ICE field office on the side. Half of the archdiocese’s job is to cover for paedophiles. I think some people can do it right. They’re nice people with a big nice ghost and I don’t mind that one bit. But I think most people are just so afraid to die that they can look past the evil thing their church has become.”

STUCK – “DEADLIFT”

“I have become somewhat of a gym rat over the last several years,” Stuck’s Greg Obis says of the origins of this new single. “Lifting weights has been indispensable for my physical and mental health. And yet, when I’m in a dark place, the gym can sometimes underscore feelings of loneliness and futility. ‘Deadlift’ uses the gym as a way to look at how atomized we have become; fixating on ourselves in public, locked into our fitness routines with our headphones, barely acknowledging the other people in the room, optimizing our wellness while racing to a red light.” New album Optimizer is out March 27.

AVALON EMERSON & THE CHARM – “WRITTEN INTO CHANGES”

Avalon Emerson & the Charm’s new album Written into Changes is out next month, and they’ve shared the title track. “Sometimes change barrels down tracks, announced by a high loud whistle,” Avalon says. “Other times it flows seasonally over sand, carving a canyon. ‘Written into Changes’ is a song about moving across the world and turning chapters in life. This song came together in London with Bullion, Hunter and Keivon.”

SUNN O))) – “BUTCH’S GUNS”

Let the heavy sludge pour slowly over you for 14 minutes with this second taste of sunn O)))’s first album for Sub Pop.

THE SILVER – “WHEN THE MOON IS THREE”

The Silver vocalist N. Duchemin says, “‘When the Moon is Three’ walks the listener through worlds of discovery; facing the unknown, the initiate dons the mask of fear as they are plunged through the hidden world of the mind. Upon returning from their journey, they are forever changed.” It’s from their new album Looking Glass Hymnal Blue.

HEN OGLEDD (RICHARD DAWSON) – “END OF THE RHYTHM”

Hen Ogledd, the proggy UK collective that includes Richard Dawson, release new album DISCOMBOBULATED tomorrow and he’s one last preview before the whole things drops. Fans of Can and Neu! will like this one.

ROSTAM – “CAMPUS (ORIGINAL VERSION)” & “CAMPUS (ORIGINAL VERSION [INSTRUMENTAL])”

Rostam has shared his original version of Vampire Weekend’s “Campus,” which he recorded as a student at Colubmia. “I wrote most of this song in December of 2005,” he says. “We came together as a band a few months later. Ezra wrote pretty much all of the lyrics on our debut album, but this song was an exception. I was interested in creating a piece of music that was built around a cello, a kick drum, and a vocal that told a story. Robyn’s ‘Be Mine’ was an inspiration. From the first time we tried playing it as a band with rock instruments, it happened to work. That was a happy accident, but I always intended for this original version to see the light of day someday. The strings in this version were recorded in my dorm room at Columbia in 2006. It’s just one cellist and one violinist that I built up into an ensemble with multi-tracking. There are some small differences in lyrics between this version and our Vampire Weekend version and I’m sure some people will notice them. I’m happy that version exists and I’m also happy this one is out in the world now too.”

AVISHAG COHEN RODRIGUES – “KAFA”

Avishag Cohen Rodrigues says her new single “Kafa” is a blend of “dark glitter, chocolate, and guitars.”

SWEET PILL – “SMOKE SCREEN”

Sweet Pill’s sophomore album, Still There’s a Glow, arrives next month, and they’ve given us another preview with “Smoke Screen.” “This song is sorta like the inner monologue of battling your self doubt,” vocalist Zayna Youssef says. “The album has a lot of lyrics about burning or any sort of thing associated with fire: ‘Sun Blind’ mentions a sun, ‘Glow’ references haze, ‘Slow Burn’ with cigarettes and literally slow burning! For ‘Smoke Screen,’ I see myself being destructive like fire, not easy to contain and ruining everything I touch, spreading fast. Sometimes we need to slow down and clear the voices out of our head. So unlike ‘Glow,’ where I want to be blanketed in ignorance, ‘Smoke Screen’ has this yearn to get out of the smoke and open my eyes.”

CHAMBER – “VIOLINS”

Nashville metalcore band Chamber have announced a new album, This Is Goodbye…, and new single “Violins” finds the band finding time for chaotic mathcore, a big clean-sung chorus, and a caveman breakdown.

WHITE REAPER – “NEED”

White Reaper announced a deluxe edition of their recent album Only Slightly Empty. Only Slightly Expanded is out on March 13 via Blue Grape, and they’ve shared one of three previously unheard b-sides it includes, “Need.”

FOO FIGHTERS – “YOUR FAVORITE TOY”

Foo Fighters have announced a new album, Your Favorite Toy, and the new single/title track finds them veering into garage rock territory.

BEDELIA – “VALLEY SADNESS”

Bedlia, the new project of Fleshwater’s Marisa Shirar, Bad Suns’ Miles Morris, and Ethel Cain guitarist Dakota Floeter, have shared their second single, which you can read more about here.

PULP – “BEGGING FOR CHANGE”

Pulp have shared their contribution to the upcoming HELP(2) Warchild UK charity compilation. “Begging for Change” may be the most rocking Pulp song ever, a glammy, garagey rave-up that still features many of the band’s signature earmarks (Jarvis Cocker’s sexy whispering, spelling) and a backing chorus that includes Damon Albarn, Fontaines D.C.‘s Grian Chatten, Kae Tempest and The Libertines‘ Carl Barat.

AELEA DIANE – “CALIFORNIA”

Alela Diane announced a new album and shared the first single, which you can read more about here.

INNER MAGIC (EX CHROMATICS / SMASHING PUMPKINS) – “UNDERGROUND” FT RUTH RADELET & “FEELIN’ JUST FINE” (SPACEMEN 3 COVER)

Inner Magic is the new duo of former Chromatics guitarist Adam Miller and former Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder. They met in 2024 and bonded over their love of ’80s UK indie legends Felt, krautrock and the Vinnie Vincent Invasion, and then decided they should make music together. Inner Magic have shared their debut single today, “Underground,” a nice bit of gentle dreampop featuring Miller and his old Chromatics bandmate Ruth Radelet sharing lead vocals. The b-side is a cover of Spacemen 3’s “Feelin’ Just Fine” from the J Spaceman side of Recurring.

GRIAN CHATTEN, ANTONY GENN & MARTIN SLATTERY – “PUPPET”

This is the first single from the soundtrack to upcoming movie Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man and is one of a few tracks to feature Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten.
