20 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

HAYWIRE – “NEW ENGLAND FOREVER” (ft. DROPKICK MURPHYS)

You already heard Dropkick Murphys’ Haywire-featuring “Citizen I.C.E.” from the New England punk bands’ new split LP (which is only currently available at the merch table on their current tour), and now we get Haywire’s Dropkick Murphys-featuring “New England Forever.” It’s a street punk anthem that’s as gritty as it is catchy, and a great middle ground between these two great bands.

SNAIL MAIL – “MY MAKER”

“‘My Maker’ was the lyrical jumping off point of the record, the anchor that helped me build the rest of the album around it,” Lindsey Jordan says of her new Snail Mail single. “I kept thinking about the line ‘it’s just sky,’ which obviously meant we had to make a video in a hot air balloon. It took six canceled rides for that to happen, but we finally got up there. I wanted the video to reference the lyrics about mortality, but also about the freedom that comes with realizing fate is out of your hands.”

EXODUS – “GOLIATH”

Thrash legends Exodus have shared the title track from their upcoming album Goliath, which the band says “may quite possibly be the heaviest thing we have ever done, and certainly the slowest song in our catalog, as close to doom metal as Exodus we get.”

BILLY FULLER (BEAK>) – “RUMMER”

Billy Fuller is a founding member of Beak> and has played bass in Massive Attack, Robert Plant’s Infamous Stringdusters, Baxter Dury’s band and more. He’s just announced his debut solo album, Fragments, which will be out April 3 via Invada. If you dig Beak>’s woozy, warped sound you’ll probably dig this too.

LAURA MISCH – “ECHOES”

London artist and producer Laura Misch announced her second album, Lithic, due out June 5 via One Little Independent. About her new single “Echoes,” she says, “‘Echoes’ is a song about listening through deep time. It calls back to ancient ancestors and forward to future generations, communing with both. The lyrics were inspired by looking at the oldest known female Venus figurines and feeling awe for these Palaeolithic early earth dwellers, and then watching a friend’s baby crawl on the floor – experiencing the same sense of wonder at how sensorily alive she is.”

WENDY EISENBERG – “OLD MYTH DYING”

Wendy Eisenberg has shared another song from their upcoming self-titled solo album, and this one finds again finds Wendy in folky, earthy territory.

KONRADSEN – “WHAT I AIM FOR” (FT. ANGIE MCMAHON & BRUCE HORNSBY)

Norwegian folk duo Konradsen announced their third album, Hunt, Gather, due out March 27 via 777 Music. They’ve also shared a new single, which features vocals from Angie McMahon and piano from Bruce Hornsby. “Last time I was writing a record, I listened to ‘Baby Hallelujah’ by Konradsen on repeat,” McMahon says. “Now, a couple of years down the line, they’re my friends. I got to hear their music on tour many nights in a row, and now I love it even more. I wear Konradsen merch on my head half the time. So while I’m now making my next record, they sent me the one they’re making and offered to let me sing on one of their songs. The highest honour! This song makes me feel tapped into some deeper realm of inner peace which is only accessible through good music. I’m so proud of my friends.“

LANTLÔS – “SOLAR DEATH”

After going in a sludge-pop direction on “Daisies,” Lantlôs give us a dose of heavy shoegaze on the latest taste of Nowhere In Between Forever.

HIT LIKE A GIRL – “ARE YOU IN LOVE” (FT. SWEET PILL’S ZAYNA YOUSSEF)

Hit Like a Girl’s new album Burning At Both Ends arrives next month, and new single “Are You in Love” is a collaboration with Sweet Pill’s Zayna Youssef.

COMMITMENT – “STD”

Philly hardcore band Commitment (mem Soul Glo, Eye Flys, etc) give us another rager from their upcoming debut LP Fear Of. Lead screamer Tati Salazar says, “‘STD’ (Send The Deposit) is an anthem for the oldest profession in the world, a profession that to this day is highly debated and heavily persecuted: sex work.”

JULIA CUMMING – “MY LIFE”

Julia Cumming of Sunflower Bean has announced her debut solo album, Julia, due out April 24 via Partisan. The first single is “My Life,” and she says, “This song came after a period of intense pressure, the culmination of writing through the pandemic and the years spent in the rhythm of touring, recording, and trying to find my place within it all…Then something shifted. It was liberation, and I knew immediately it was the beginning of something new. It’s clear ‘My Life’ would open the album, because it’s the thesis. The seed that started everything.”

KNUMEARS – “MY NAME”

Rising LA screamo band Knumears have given us another devastating taste of their upcoming debut LP Directions.

SUN DON’T SHINE (TYPE O NEGATIVE, CROWBAR) – “POWER TO LIVE”

Sun Don’t Shine, the band featuring guitarist-vocalist Kenny Hickey (Type O Negative, Silvertomb) and guitarist Kirk Windstein (Crowbar, Down), are releasing their new album Birth to Death in April and they just shared the sludgy new single “Power to Live.”

ROSENAU & SANBORN – “WALRUS”

Onetime Collections of Colonies of Bees bandmates Chris Rosenau (Volcano Choir) and Nick Sanborn (Sylvan Esso) release instrumental music as Rosenau & Sanborn, and they’ve announced a new album under the moniker, Two, due out March 6 via Psychic Hotline. About lead single “Walrus,” Rosenawu says, “Honestly, the approach on this track was ‘OK! Saturday night… Let’s party!’ It all felt real good. From there, we got Nick’s gear back up from the night before, followed our process, and went for it. I remember Nick turning into an octopus in front of my eyes as he wrangled both the modular rig he had set up for this one, as well as the insane drum machine situation.”

YOUNG FRESH FELLOWS – “THREE GASCONADING SAINTS”

Seattle Legends the Young Fresh Fellows released new album Loft as a 2025 Record Store Back Friday exclusive but it’s not getting a proper release on March 27 via Yep Roc. It features appearances from Neko Case, Peter Buck, and more and here’s “Three Gasconading Saints” which frontman Scott McCaughey says was his suggestion to Jeff Tweedy when asked to give a potential album title.

HRISHIKESH HIRWAY – “STRAY DOGS” FT. IRON & WINE

Los Angeles-based artist and Song Exploder creator/host Hrishikesh Hirway (The One AM Radio) announced his debut LP under his own name, In the Last Hour of Light, due out April 24 via Keeled Scales. The lead single is the folky “Stray Dogs,” which features Sam Beam of Iron & Wine. “I wrote this song in 2023, a few days before going to Blue Rock Studio, in Wimberley, Texas for a week-long songwriting retreat,” he says. “I was so worried about squandering the opportunity by getting there and running out of ideas for songs that I reached out to people to ask for prompts that I could use if I got stuck. One person I reached out to was Sam Beam, from Iron & Wine. He offered the prompt ‘describe a street you grew up on from the point of view of a stray dog.’”

MUTE SWAN – “LIKE A CHUMP”

Tucson dreampop trio will release Skin Slip on March 6 via Hit the North Records. “Like a Chump” is nice and vibey and has surprising origins. “I asked our drummer, Gilbert, if he had a beat I could use to write a new song,” says singer/guitarist Mike Barnett. “He said, just use the beat from Nookie by Limp Bizkit. Anyway, I used some of the lyrics too and Hannah McCain (Sonya Blade) sang the outro. We really hope Fred Durst hears it.”

GEM CLUB – “APERTURE”

Gem Club, the ambient pop project of Christopher Barnes, have announced their first album in 12 years which is titled Emerald Press and will be out April 17. “I wrote ‘Aperture’ from inside the discomfort of stepping beyond the expected self in a relationship,” Barnes says of the album’s first single. “It examines how intimacy is regulated through monitoring and exposure — the constant recalibration of am I giving too much, am I visible enough, am I disappearing? Being seen can make a connection feel real, but it can also narrow it, warp it, and quietly hold it in place.”

U2 – DAYS OF ASH EP

U2 are back with their first major release of new original music in nine years, an EP of protest music. They also say there’s an album coming later this year.

COLA – “HEDGESITTING”

Here’s the first single from Cola’s upcoming album Cost of Living Adjustment.

THE BUG CLUB – “WATCHING THE OMNIBUS”

Welsh duo The Bug Club are back with a new album less than a year since their last one, and this is the first single. Fans of early The Fall, hit play now.
