16 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

HUMAN ERROR CLUB & KENNY SEGAL – “NOT HECN AROUND”

Jazz/hip hop group Human Error Club and esteemed hip hop producer Kenny Segal will release the collaborative album Human Error Club at Kenny’s House on September 26 via Backwoodz. ICE CUBE – “BEFORE HIP HOP”

CAPPADONNA – “ANOTHER DOSE” (ft. KILLAH BANSHEE)

More veteran hip hop: Wu-Tang’s Cappadonna will release his new album Solar Eclipse on 9/18 via DNA Records, and today he shares the project’s new single “Another Dose.”

LADYTRON – “I BELIEVE IN YOU”

Icy electropop vets Ladytron are currently working on their new album; that has not been announced yet but they have given us a taste with this new single. The video is cool.

ACTIVITY – “SMILING”

Brooklyn post-punks Activity are back with this new single — originating from the A Thousand Years In Another Way sessions — for Bandcamp Friday.

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN – “BORN IN THE USA” (ELECTRIC NEBRASKA VERSION)

Bruce Springsteen is releasing Nebraska ’82: Expanded Edition on October 17, just in time for the biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere which chronicles the making of that album. It includes the much-sought-after “electric” version of the album and you can listen to this early version of “Born in the USA” from that now.

BONGINATOR – “INTRUDER ORGANISM” (ft. FULCI)

Weed-loving death metallers Bonginator will release their new LP Retrodeath on October 24 via Testimony Records, and the album’s latest single is a collab with the great Italian band Fulci.

THE LAST DINNER PARTY – “THE SCYTHE”

The second single from The Last Dinner Party’s anticipated new album From The Pyre is “The Scythe.” “This song began 9 years ago, like a prophecy,” Abigail Morris says. “I wrote it before I had known anything of grief or heartbreak, how a relationship ending feels exactly the same as that person dying. Once you know how it feels to lose someone you enter a new realm from which you can never return. You’re trying to reach them telepathically through psychics or song lyrics (sometimes those two become the same) and sometimes they give you a reply. It can take 9 years to realise you’re even grieving at all but once you do you see them everywhere – in a robin, in a street fox, in a Wim Wenders film. The Scythe comes for everyone and you shouldn’t be afraid about what’s on the other side. The music video for ‘The Scythe’ is one of our proudest and most intimate. From one angle it’s a celebration of all the relationships that make it so far you both feel like you can live forever, from another it’s the fantasy of imagining what it would look like if your parents had been able to grow old together.”

MUGGER – “THIS IS OURS”

Creepoid are reunited, but that doesn’t mean related hardcore band Mugger is slowing down. Their new EP Want the World drops October 24 via Quiet Panic Records, and it’ll include this new ripper.

MIGUEL – “NEW MARTYRS (RIDE 4 U)”

R&B singer Miguel is back and planning to release his first album in eight years, Caos, on his 40th birthday: October 23. On new single “New Martyrs (Ride 4 U),” his trademark sound is in fine form.

THE ANTLERS – “SOMETHING IN THE AIR”

The Antlers’ first album in four years, Blight, arrives next month, and the new single begins as a hushed, eerie lullaby before blooming into cinematic splendor.

WEATHERBOX – “A BAND ASTRIDE CLOUDS”

Cult indie/emo/post-hardcore heroes Weatherbox will release a long-awaited new project, a double EP called The Compass & Follow the Rattle of the Afghan Guitar, on October 9. Here they are sounding as delightfully unique as ever on new single “A Band Astride Clouds.”

POPPY, AMY LEE (EVANESCENCE), COURTNEY LAPLANTE (SPIRITBOX) – “END OF YOU”

Three powerhouse alt-metal women come together on this soaring new anthem.

MACHINE GIRL – “RABBIT SEASON”

Machine Girl announced a new album, Psychowarrior: MG Ultra X, which they describe as “the fucked up, ugly, big sister album to 2024’s MG Ultra. IT’s due out on October 24 via Future Classic, and about new single “Rabbit Season,” Matt Stephenson says, “with Machine Girl’s lyrics, I’ll take some dystopian or dark subject matter and flip it into something more lighthearted. I took the concept of conspiracy rabbit holes and used it to make a bouncy dance track. It discusses the cartoonish world of conspiracies and false, subjective realities people are trapping themselves inside of.”

MANY EYES – “THE CLOCK BEHIND ALL OTHER CLOCKS”

Former Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley‘s new band Many Eyes have announced a new EP, Combust, coming in just two weeks. Check out the lead single and read more here.
