14 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

ADRIAN SHERWOOD – “THE COLLAPSE OF EVERYTHING”

Producer, On-U Sound founder and dub maestro Adrian Sherwood will release The Collapse Of Everything, his first solo album in 13 years, on August 22 via On-U Sound. He says: ““Recently I lost two great friends, Mark Stewart & Keith LeBlanc, and started working with the idea of doing another solo record, because it’s been a long time since Survival & Resistance. Mark had written a song, and part of a lyric was hidden in the song about ‘The Collapse Of Everything’. It seemed a very appropriate title, both summing up my feelings about losing Mark and Keith, and on another level, what’s going on in the world now both politically and environmentally.” Check out the title track.

SHELLY – “CROSS YOUR MIND” & “HARTWELL”

Clairo shared two previously unheard tracks from Shelly, her project with Claud, Josh Mehling, and Noa Frances Getzug, who released a couple of songs in 2020. “Both songs were written 5 years ago too,” she writes. “Kept them safe, produced them out.”

SHABASON, KRGOVICH, TENNISCOATS – “OUR DETOUR”

Canadian musicians Joseph Shabason and Nicholas Krgovich teamed up with Japanese duo Tenniscoats for new album Wao which will be out August 29 via Western Vinyl. It was recorded at Kobe, Japan’s Guggenheim House and born out of in-studio improvisations. “The whole thing felt like a dream and was over so quickly so I kinda forgot about it until a few weeks after I got home,” Shabason says. “When I opened up the sessions is was really clear that we had done something special.”

TEETHE – “HATE GOODBYES” (FT. MEMS WEDNESDAY & HOVVDY)

Texas slowcore band Teethe are releasing their new album Magic of the Sale on August 8 via Winspear. The latest single, the beautiful “Hate goodbyes,” features Xany Chelmis (Wednesday, MJ Lenderman) and Hovvdy’s Charlie Martin, Adelyn Strei, and Emily Elkin.

GANSER – “DISCOUNT DIAMONDS”

Chicago’s Ganser will release new album Animal Hospital on August 29 via Felte and they’ve just shared another single from it. “Discount Diamonds” has an inviting post-punk/disco groove. “There’s always someone up top saying what the kids are doing wrong, always a voice telling you the party’s over,” says the band’s Alicia Gaines. “I liked the idea of making a dance track that’s constantly questioning whether dancing’s still allowed. It’s got that suspicious energy, like too much coffee and not enough sleep.”

LORELLE MEETS THE OBSOLETE – “REGRESAR / RECORDAR”

Mexico shoegaze duo Lorelle Meets the Obsolete will release new album Corporeal on October 10 via Sonic Cathedral. They’ve just shared the first single which takes their sound into dancey territory.

MEN WITHOUT HATS – “I ❤ THE ‘80S”

Canadian synthpop vets Men Without Hats (“The Safety Dance,” “Pop Goes the World”) are embracing their history with this new single. “One of the biggest challenges in writing this song was narrowing down all the things I loved about the ’80s,” says frontman Ivan Doroschuk. “The song could have been half an hour long!

EIKO ISHIBASHI & JIM O’ROURKE – “PAREIDOLIA”

Frequent collaborators Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O’Rourke toured Europe together in 2023 and those improvisational performances have been paired down into Pareidolia, their fifth album together that’s out August 29 via Drag City.

OF MONSTERS AND MEN – “TELEVISION LOVE”

Of Monsters and Men are back with their first new music in five years, “Television Love.” “For the past few years, we’ve been tucked away in our studio quietly making music, and it feels really good to finally let people in on what we’ve been up to,” they say.

ORUÃ – “DEUS DARÁ”

Brazilian band Oruã will release new album Slacker on October 24 via K. Single “DEUS DARÁ” is groovy and psychedelic.

PALETTE KNIFE – “PROTOTYPE V.2”

Columbus, OH emo trio Palette Knife are back with their first new music in over two years and they say they’ll be back with more “sooner than later.”

This creates a kind of continuity not only in the music, but in our lives.”
