12 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

KURT VILE & LUKE ROBERTS – “CLASSIC LOVE”

Kurt Vile and Luke Roberts have toured and collaborated together over the years, and now they’re releasing a collaborative EP, Classic Love, on July 25 via Verve Records. Here’s the lovely, folky title track.

HEATMISER – “SILENT TREATMENT”

Third Man Records is releasing a 30th anniversary edition of Heatmiser’s third and final albu, 1996’s Mic City Sons, due out July 25. They’ve shared the previously unreleased “Silent Treatment,” which guitarist and vocalist Neal Gust wrote about his bandmate, the late Elliott Smith. “This one is about Elliot and me not talking, and him giving me the silent treatment,” Neal says. “I didn’t know what else to sing about.”

LORD HURON – “BAG OF BONES”

The latest taste of Lord Huron’s upcoming album The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1 is a breezy folk rock song called “Bag of Bones.”

DAVE HAUSE – “ENOUGH HOPE”

Dave Hause announced …And The Mermaid, his seventh solo album, due out September 26 via Blood Harmony Records. The first single is the anthemic “Enough Hope.”

RYE COALITION – “WINGWALKER” (SHELLAC COVER)

Post-hardcore vets Rye Coalition are back with their first new music in 19 years to pay tribute to two friends/legends that they lost in the past year, Steve Albini and Rick Froberg. They cover “Wingwalker” by Albini’s band “Wingwalker” and “Bullet Train To Vegas” by Froberg’s band Drive Like Jehu on a new 7″ called Paid In Full that drops July 18 via Ernest Jenning Record Co and benefits Albini’s Letters to Santa children’s charity. The Shellac cover is out now.

PRINCESS NOKIA – “DROP DEAD GORGEOUS”

Princess Nokia is preparing to announce a new album, and she’s given us the first preview with “Drop Dead Gorgeous,” which she says is “a salacious summer anthem that’s all about de-centering men and causing trouble with your girls. It creates a fantasy landscape where girls are lawless, summer is forever and Halloween is around the corner.”

BIGXTHAPLUG & SHABOOZEY – “HOME”

“Drink Don’t Need No Mix” collaborators BigXthaPlug and Shaboozey are back with another country/rap hybrid, “Home.”

ARROJ AFTAB – “RAAT KI RANI” (SYLVAN ESSO REMIX)

Sylvan Esso gave Arooj Aftab’s 2024 Night Rein track “raat ki rani” a new rework. “I absolutely love Sylvan Esso for coming through and giving ‘raat ki rani’ this fun summer remix!,” Arooj says. “I’m such a fan of their vibes and I’m excited to share our collab with everyone.”

BELIEVE IN NOTHING – “BOILING STONE”

UK sludge/noise band Believe In Nothing have dropped a bone-crushing new track.
