12 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

HERMANOS GUTIÉRREZ & LEON BRIDGES – “ELEGANTLY WASTED”

A few years back Leon Bridges collaborated with Khruangbin and now he’s teaming up with another chill group, Hermanos Gutiérrez. “We’ve always been fans of Leon’s style and his way of approaching music,” Hermanos Gutiérrez say. “When we were in Nashville together last November, we had a window of maybe four hours before our show at the Ryman that night, but managed to finish a song we’d been working on for months. Leon showed up, and he heard the track for the first time at the studio together with Dan Auerbach, the whole team of Easy Eye Sound and Leon’s crew. He took a microphone, and he just started to sing a melody over it. It sounded like an angel. We all expected him to crush it with his first note, and he did. And he wasn’t even singing lyrics; he was just singing whatever felt natural. It was such an incredible moment, and then he got together with Dan, and they wrote the lyrics.”

SYDNEY MINSKY SARGEANT (WORKING MENS CLUB) – “LONG ROADS”

Working Men’s Club’s Sydney Minsky Sargeant has shared a second single from his upcoming solo debut. “I don’t want to sound all hippy dippy, but this album helped me realise it’s ok to love and say that within a song because it’s a true and honest feeling and one that I’m not embarrassed to admit or accept,” he says. “But it’s also ok to say I got some stuff wrong and I’m no perfect person. I’m just living each day trying to make sense of the world around me.”

PAUL DUFFY (THE CORAL) – “SHADOWS FALL (8BIT)”

There’s a documentary in the works about Liverpool indie vets The Coral and for the soundtrack bassist Paul Duffy has created 8-bit versions of songs from the band’s 2002 debut. You can listen to “Shadows Fall” now.

RUNO PLUM – “LEMON GARDEN”

Minnesota-based singer and songwriter runo plum has signed to Winspear and released her first single for the label. “Lemon Garden” is as pleasingly aromatic as its title. “This song is me dreaming and longing for friendship,” she says. “I imagine living in a giant old house in the middle of the woods, hosting my friends and feeling pure bliss. I’ve had little glimpses of this over the past few years but I currently live pretty isolated from the world. There’s a beautiful 12 string on this that adds such fullness to the song, which feels really representative of the community/friendship theme.”

THE LAST DINNER PARTY – “THIS IS THE KILLER SPEAKING”

The Last Dinner Party announced their second album, and shared the first single, which you can read more about here.

BIOHAZARD – “FUCK THE SYSTEM”

Biohazard officially announced their first album in thirteen years, and gave us the second taste with “Fuck the System.” Read more about it here, and pre-order our exclusive vinyl variant.

NINE INCH NAILS – “As Alive As You Need Me To Be”

It’s the first single from Nine Inch Nails’ soundtrack to Tron: Ares and their first new music in five years.

CASSANDRA JENKINS – “DELPHINIUM BLISS”

Cassandra Jenkins is releasing an “instrumental concept album” companion to last year’s My Light, My Destroyer. The first single off My Light, My Massage Parlor is “Delphinium Bliss,” an ambient piano track.

BLOOD ORANGE – “MIND LOADED” FT. LORDE, CAROLINE POLACHEK & “SOMEWHERE IN BETWEEN”

Here are two more songs from Blood Orange’s upcoming album Essex Honey.

POOL KIDS – “LEONA STREET”

Pool Kids’ anticipated new album arrives next month, and here’s another preview, “Leona Street,” which you can read more about here.

SPIRITUAL CRAMP – “AT MY FUNERAL”

“At My Funeral,” the first single from Spiritual Cramp’s upcoming second album, features the band’s signature mix of punk and new wave by way of the ’00s post-punk revival.

FREDDIE GIBBS & THE ALCHEMIST – “1995”

Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist are giving us a follow-up to 2020’s fantastic Alfredo, and the first taste is here.
