12 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

WET LEG – “DAVINA MCCALL”

This new Wet Leg single is good — acoustic, a little different for them — but the claymation-style video is very cool. New album moisturizer.

CAROLINE POLACHEK – “ON THE BEACH”

Caroline Polachek co-wrote and co-produced her new single “On the Beach” with Danny L Harle. It’s the title track for the soundtrack to the video game Death Stranding 2: On The Beach.

QUANNNIC – “OBSERVER”

One-person shoegaze band quannnic has announced a new album, Warbrained, due August 22 via deadAir. If you like Deftones’ shoegazy songs, you might like new single “Observer.”

GOLDEN APPLES – “NOONDAY DEMON”

Philly indie staples Golden Apples have announced a new album, Shooting Star, due September 19 via Lame-O Records. Here’s lead single “Noonday Demon,” a shimmering track that blurs the line between ’90s shoegaze and ’60s psychedelia.

KAE TEMPEST – DIAGNOSES

Kae says their new single is “a summer banger about antipsychotics and HRT. And loving each other regardless of how mental we are. And why the fuck not.” New album Self Titled is out July 4.

ADA LEA – “SOMETHING IN THE WIND”

Ada Lea’s new album when i paint my masterpiece is out in August, and she’s shared another new single from it, “Something in the Wind.” “I had a dream about this song and remember nothing,” she says. “There is a constant in everyone’s life, which is the dream. When we recorded the song, Luke, who produced it, suggested we slow it down so Tasy could improvise a busy drum solo. Then, Jonas, engineer, sped the song up to its regular speed. Like a slowed down wink to Leonard Cohen himself.” Nathan Fielder inspired the accompanying video, which Ada learned to skate for over six months.

SUPERCHUNK – “NO HOPE”

“The last…10 (?) years have given us plenty of material for crushing nights and endless days, and this rollercoaster is only going down at the moment, but here we are singing,” Mac McCaughan says of Superchunk’s new single. Songs in the Key of Yikes is out August 22.

LADY WRAY – “YOU’RE GONNA WIN”

Lady Wray is back and will release new album Cover Girl on September 26 via Big Crown. The first single is gospel-disco strutter “You’re Gonna Win” which Wray says “is my night out. I can get dressed, call my friends, and we’re gonna go out, dance, and have a great time.”

BLONDE REDHEAD – “REST OF HER LIFE” (CHOIR VERSION FT. BROOKLYN YOUTH CHORUS)

“I wrote this song for my horse, Harry, two days after he left for the other realm,” Blond Redhead’s Kazu Makino. “It has been an extended season of loss for me, and the world, but the Brooklyn Youth Chorus naturally inject life, hopes and strength back to the song, and I am grateful for that. Before we started, I had an image of how it should sound, but when I heard them sing I realized it was impossible to ask that from a group of youth, so I hopped on their boat. I felt as if they pulled me out of the mud.”

THE LEMONHEADS – “IN THE MARGINS”

It’s the second single from The Lemonheads’ first album of new material in 19 years.

KNEECAP – “THE RECAP”

The Recap” takes aim at Conservative party leader Kemi Badenoch, who has tried to get Kneecap’s Glastonbury festival set canceled.

CITZEN – “NAIL IN YOUR HAND”
