11 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

N8NOFACE – “EVERYTHING WE THOUGHT WE KNEW”

LA synth-punkster N8NOFACE has signed to Stones Throw for his next album, As Of Right Now, which arrives on July 11. It includes recent single “Waiting to Wait for You” and a moody new track called “Everything We Thought We Knew.”

CELL ROT – “CANNIBALS” & “SHADOW PEOPLE”

Oakland’s raw hardcore punks Cell Rot have announced a new EP, Parasite, due July 18 via Convulse Records. Check out two vicious rippers from the LP now.

U.S. GIRLS – “NO FRUIT”

Meg Remy’s latest U.S. Girls album, Scratch It, is out this Friday and here’s one last preview before the whole thing drops. “You better hope that’s not the last thing you ever say to me,” Meg sings.

SISTER. – “HONEY”

NY-based band Sister.’s new album Two Birds arrives next month, and the latest single is “Honey,” which they say was “a song Ceci brought to the band that was made up of tension and uncertainty, and we decided to answer the questions that it poses by making the questions even bigger: Can a chorus without lyrics succinctly describe a feeling in a way beyond the words surrounding it? Would distorting the vocal through a Space Echo’s feedback evoke the figment of this lost Honey and fill in the gaps? Could chaos reinforce its structure? The questions surrounding production became a way of sifting through the questions that arose in writing the song

THE THE – “SLOW EMOTION REPLAYED”

Matt Johnson has shared a new version of The The’s classic 1993 single “Slow Emotion Replay” which was born out of rehearsals for last year’s Ensouled World Tour. Centered around ’80s instrument the Ominchord, it’s a cool version of the song.

RIP VAN WINKLE (ROBERT POLLARD) – “SHIT-HEEL MAN”

Rip Van Winkle, the latest side project from Guided by Voices’ Robert Pollard, will release their debut album in July and here’s another low fi ripper from it.

SLOAN – “LIVE FOREVER”

“If given the chance to live forever, would we even want to? Careful what you wish for,” Sloan bassits Chris says of the band’s new single. “Would you want to feel 80 for hundreds of years? I guess that’s the kind of hard-hitting question this song tackles. It also predicts that we will all have ‘90s nostalgia – once we’re 100 years old.” Sloan’s 14th album Based on the Best Seller is out in September.

NATION OF LANGUAGE – “I’M NOT READY FOR THE CHANGE”

Nation of Language have announced their fourth album, Dance Called Memory, which will be their first for Sub Pop and out September 19 via Sub Pop. Here’s the shoegazy new single.

BIOHAZARD – “FORSAKEN”

Biohazard have been back with their classic lineup (guitarist/vocalist Billy Graziadei, vocalist/bassist Evan Seinfeld, guitarist Bobby Hambel, drummer Danny Schuler) and planning a new album for a couple years, and now they’ve released their first new song in over a decade, “Forsaken.” It’s a metallic hardcore anthem that sounds like classic Biohazard with a modern shine, and it makes for a pretty damn good comeback. SPITE HOUSE – “DESERT”

Montreal melodic hardcore band Spite House have signed to Pure Noise and announced their sophomore album, Desertion. Read about lead single “Desert” here.

CASS MCCOMBS – “PEACE”
