10 must-see sets at Open’er Festival 2025

In partnership with Open’er Festival

Taking place on the north coast of Poland, Open’er is a heavyweight of the European festival calendar, boasting world-class line-ups and diverse cultural offerings spanning from theatre to fashion. Some of the biggest hitters for the 2025 edition – taking place July 2-5 – include Massive Attack, Future, Muse and Linkin Park.

Ahead of Poland’s biggest festival kicking off at Gdynia-Kosakowo Airfield next month, here’s a rundown of the standout sets to get down to.

Wolf Alice

The Mercury Prize winners returned earlier this year with a new major label deal, a glammy, ‘70s-influenced new aesthetic, and ferocious lead single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’ – and ahead of the band’s fourth album ‘The Clearing’ (out August 29) their Open’er slot should contain some early glimpses of things to come. Given that this is being billed as their most ambitious record to date – the group describe it as sounding like “if Fleetwood Mac wrote an album today in North London” – you should be in for a treat.

Doechii

Among rap’s brightest breakout stars, Doechii is enjoying one hell of a rise right now. After scooping her first ever Grammy for 2024’s mixtape ‘Alligator Bites Never Heal’, the Tampa rapper is bringing her exceptional live show to the summer festival circuit. Get on down to her Open’er gig to secure full ‘I was there’ bragging rights when her star rises even higher.

Wunderhorse

Formed out of the ashes of the short-lived punk outfit Dead Pretties, the grunge-tinged Wunderhorse has evolved from the solo project of frontman Jacob Slater into a fully-fledged band – and are easily one of the most impressive live groups around right now. After selling out Ally Pally off the back of 2024’s incendiary second album ‘Midas’, they’re now doing the festival rounds – don’t miss it.

Little Simz

After proving that she’s virtually ready to headline the whole thing during a jaw-droppingly polished sunset set at Glastonbury 2024, Little Simz has been back in the studio – resulting in her sixth album ‘Lotus’. Striking a gloomier, more uncertain tone, this is a break-up record of sorts, dissecting her creative split from longtime producer Inflo. “Tryna make an album means baring my whole truth/unpacking the fuckery I’m trying to heal through,” she raps on ‘Lonely’. Buckle up for this one.

Tyla

South Africa’s Tyla is finally coming to Europe after cancelling last year’s planned tour – and festival season will be the first chance for many people to catch her live. Fusing glossy pop together with warm amapiano beats, her breakthrough single ‘Water’ has officially raced well past the billion streams mark since its 2023 release. It’ll be intriguing to see what’s in store: fingers crossed her show is worth the extra wait.

Nemzzz

Chart-bothering Manchester rapper Nemzzz broke the Top 20 last year with his mixtape ‘Do Not Disturb’, and earlier this year ‘Rent’s Due’ debuted at number six – the way he’s carrying on, a Number One is surely on the cards further down the line. Expect super-creative samples and sharply witty bars from his Open’er slot.

A.G. Cook

Not content with helping Charli XCX to bring about Brat Summer, pop’s most in-demand producer A.G. Cook released his third solo album ‘Britpop’ last year. Featuring guest appearances from frequent collaborators Charli, Caroline Polachek and Addison Rae, the album combined Cook’s love of a squelchy, hyper-pop infused dance track with gentler, folk-influenced weird-pop – it should go off at Open’er.

Gracie Abrams

Off the back of support slots for Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift, Gracie Abrams is now a mega-star in her own right, and thanks to its biggest single ‘That’s So True’ her second album ‘The Secret of Us’ just keeps gathering momentum. The US singer – who counts Phoebe Bridgers, Lorde and Bon Iver as influences – will get the chance to prove her headliner mettle at Open’er, where she’s bagged a top billing.

Magdelena Bay

Laden with Italo Disco influence and sleazy synth-lines, Magdelena Bay’s ‘Imaginal Disk’ was one of last year’s greatest word-of-mouth successes, winding up on countless best album rundowns at the end of 2024. The alt-pop duo, who are also supporting none other than Billie Eilish during her July run of London shows, are ones to get on your to-see list as soon as possible.

Lola Young

If you’ve somehow managed to make it this far through 2025 without hearing ‘Messy’ then congratulations – the song has been inescapable all year – but there’s far more to Lola Young than her biggest single. Expect deeply autobiographical one-liners and the singer-songwriter’s flawless, soul-filled vocals in abundance from her live show. No wonder Tyler, The Creator sought her out as a collaborator on his latest album ‘Chromakopia’.
